About University of Western Macedonia
The University of Western Macedonia was founded in 2003. In 2015 it became a self-governing institution with campuses in the cities of Kozani and Florina. Four years later, the university merged with the Technological Education Institute of Western Macedonia and now has campuses in five cities: Kozani, Florina, Kastoria, Ptolemaida and Grevena.
The university’s main campus is located in Kozani, a city in northern Greece.
There are seven schools within the university: school of engineering, school of economic sciences, school of fine arts, school of agriculture, school of social sciences and humanities, school of sciences, and the school of health sciences. Each school is divided into different departments, which offer a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
Outside the classroom, students can take part in the university’s extracurricular activities. There are two societies available for students to join: The academic, social, cultural and environmental society, and the UoWM Alumni.
Every year the university welcomes a number of international students as part of the Erasmus+ programme. This programme also enables students studying at the University of Western Macedonia to study abroad at a partner higher education institution or take part in a traineeship in an enterprise, a research institute, a laboratory or an organisation.
