About National Pingtung University of Science and Technology

Established in 1924 as the Kaohsiung District Pingtung Extension School of Agriculture, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) has undergone several restructurings and name changes over the years. The current name was adopted in 1997.

The campus is surrounded by picturesque scenery and as a result, NPUST has gained the reputation of being a “National Park University”.

There are six separate colleges at NPUST offering a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. These are: agriculture, engineering, management, humanities and social sciences, veterinary medicine, and the international college.

NPUST allows part-time study during weekends for students with at least one year's work experience, while a night school has also been established to accommodate different students needs.

Within the campus, students can access a library, student housing, and sports facilities. NPUST is recognised for its pursuits in sustainable development, and is considered to be one of the most sustainable universities in Taiwan.

NPUST has links with 274 universities and colleges in 46 countries through various academic exchanges, faculty and students exchanges, sharing of resources, and joint research opportunities.

As a result, in addition to offering lectures in Chinese, NPUST also offers a range of courses in English.

Located in Pingtung county, which sits at the south of Taiwan, it has a warm tropical climate and is known for its strong links with agriculture and tourism. Kenting National Park, Taiwan's oldest and largest national park, is located here.
