As part of the Social Sciences Subject Group, ENU co-hosts EU-funded research project: ‘RESIST. Fostering Queer Feminist Intersectional Resistances against Transnational Anti-Gender Politics’.

The RESIST Project is a Europe-wide research consortium that explores the impact of so-called ‘anti-gender’ politics across Europe and beyond by mapping ‘anti-gender’ politics and understanding lived experiences and counterstrategies. Currently, we have an opportunity for a Senior Research Fellow to join the project and support the team in generating new ideas and solutions, and to inform policy making, aimed at benefiting those subjected to intersecting discriminations, and public at large.

The Role:

As Senior Research Fellow you will join Dr Roberto Kulpa and work on the Impact and Dissemination work package of the RESIST Project while supporting him on the Polish case study.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your familiarity with the principles of ‘knowledge exchange’ to deliver impact activities such as preparing outputs and supporting colleagues in their public engagements.

The role will also see you using your expertise to support the team in developing relations with our partners on documentary film and advocacy activities.

Further to this, you will have the remit to design MOOC based on the RESIST findings (incl. developing pedagogical curriculum, materials and resources), and your excellent communication skills will serve you well as you prepare articles, blog posts, translations, podcasts, and other outputs from the project.

Part of your duties will also involve supporting Dr Kulpa in his work on the Polish case study. Thus, you will be in an excellent position to bring your familiarity with Polish society and culture, and interests in research concerning (broadly defined) queer, feminist, LGBT, gender, intersectional, and anti-racist politics to contribute to the collection and analysis of data, write reports and act as co-author on publications.

The post will also see you benefiting from working in an international team of queer-feminist researchers, within the EU-funded research consortium which will, as part of your duties, also give you the chance to travel abroad and present at international conferences.

What we will need from you:

We will look for demonstrable evidence of your ability to meet the following criteria:

• A PhD in social sciences or humanities (interdisciplinary and broadly defined) (near completions accepted if the thesis is submitted by October 2024).
• Queer-feminist and trans-inclusive ethos of work, academic epistemics, and resonance with other values of the RESIST Project
• Familiarity and experience with the principles of ‘knowledge exchange’, ‘public engagement’, and dissemination of findings to non-academic communities
• Familiarity and experiences of working with diverse methodologies or research and dissemination to diverse stakeholders (e.g. policymakers, civil society organisations, communities, researchers, general audiences)
• Familiarity and experience with Polish society, culture and politics
• Competent English & Polish language skills

Additional Information:

Salary: Grade 6 – £44,263 per annum, fixed.

Contract: Fixed-Term – 24 months

Hours:  Full Time – 35 hours per week
