Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or Level 2 within UCD School of Education.

The UCD School of Education is seeking to appoint a post-doctoral researcher to work on the qualitative component of Ireland's first national longitudinal study of children's lived experiences of primary schooling in Ireland: Children's School Lives (CSL). This project is funded by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment. The overarching CSL study is designed to capture the perceptions of two cohorts of children, parents, teachers and school leaders, across a six-year period, with a focus on children's academic attainment, engagement, rights and well-being, diversity and inclusion, school and teaching cultures, and educational transitions.

This is a high-calibre position that will offer the successful applicant a rare opportunity to work on a ground-breaking national longitudinal study of children in primary schools in Ireland. We are looking for a postdoctoral level researcher who can help us conduct secondary data analysis of the extensive qualitative longitudinal data base we now have available following five years of data collection for the Children's School Lives Study. This included interviews and participatory data collection with children, their parents, grandparents, teachers, and school leaders in addition to observations of children and teachers in 13 primary schools over the five years. Ideally this person will have experience working with longitudinal qualitative data, and with data generated from in depth case studies of schools although support for the project methods and analysis will be given throughout the post.

PD1 Salary Range: €44,347 - €50,805 Per Annum

PD2 Salary Range: €52,193 - €56,764 Per Annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The PD2 post is intended for researchers that have completed PD1. As with the PD1, if you have already completed your PD2 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD2, or your total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 6 years, you should not apply and should refer to Research Fellow posts instead.
