Your personal sphere of influence:

As a university assistant praedoc at the Department of Romance Studies, you will work in research and teaching in the team of Prof. Dr. Teresa Hiergeist. The focus of research there is on French and Spanish literary and cultural studies. The research interests of the team include imaginations of social and communal cohesion, alternative and utopian concepts of society and relationships, feminist and queer studies. We pursue literary studies that are decidedly influenced by cultural studies and discourse analisis. The team will consist of a professor, four pre-docs and an organizational assistant. 

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the work and research area.
  • We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
  • You work on your dissertation and its completion.
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
  • You participate in the organization of conferences and meetings.

This is part of your personality:

  • completed Master's/Diploma degree in Romance Studies, with a focus on French or Spanish literature/culture/media studies
  • profound knowledge of Spanish or French as well as English
  • familiarity with the methods of cultural studies
  • ability to think analytically, sensitivity to the specifics of literary/filmic communication
  • an idea for a doctoral project in the field of literary and cultural imaginations of community and relationship, feminist/queer studies and/or contemporary concepts of autorship
  • initial practice in academic writing, possibly didactic skills, experience in e-learning
  • respectful, non-violent behavior and desire for collaborative research projects

Fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 3578,80 (on a full-time basis) increases if we can credit professional experience.

The employment duration ist 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
