About UM6P:
Located at the heart of the future Green City of Benguerir, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), a higher education institution with an international standard, is established to serve Morocco and the African continent. Its vision is honed around research and innovation at the service of education and development. This unique nascent university, with its state-of-the-art campus and infrastructure, has woven a sound academic and research network, and its recruitment process is seeking high quality academics and professionals in order to boost its quality-oriented research environment in the metropolitan area of Marrakech.

Job Description:
The CBS department at UM6P is seeking a highly motivated candidate with strong expertise and a keen interest in developing functional materials. This includes graphitic based supports, nitride-based materials, and hierarchically structured porous materials for CO2 hydrogenation reactions using photo- or thermal catalysis. The successful candidate will be involved in optimizing the synthesis process, with experience in photo-catalysis. Additionally, knowledge of gas-phase reaction product analysis using micro-GC and FTIR is essential. A solid understanding of general material synthesis is also mandatory.

Candidate Profile:

  • Hold a PhD in catalytic processes or an equivalent in a relevant field
  • Possess relevant experience in CO2 hydrogenation
  • Demonstrate experience in gas-phase product analysis using chromatographic techniques and FTIR
  • Be capable of writing scientific reports
  • Demonstrate aptitude for teamwork
  • Have a good command of English

Main Tasks:

The successful candidate must have the ability to:

  • Design, implement, and validate an experimental photocatalytic measurement setup
  • Perform conversion measurements at laboratory scale
  • Synthesize and develop new catalytic materials
  • Characterize catalysts before and after reaction
  • Write reports and publications

Skills:

  • Mastery of fundamental knowledge in the field of heterogeneous catalysis
  • Mastery of chromatographic and FTIR analytical techniques
  • Mastery of analytical techniques for catalytic materials
  • Mastery of chemical kinetics

About CBS/GPE:
Research within CBS-GPE is organized around two main areas: Chemistry with its main chemical engineering component, and chemo-biology as well as heat treatments and their applications in industries. CBS-GPE projects aim to achieve an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms of these transformations to suggest new, original, more effective, sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives.
