The Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) Research Group at University of Southampton (UOS), School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, is recruiting a scientist/ Research Fellow to support research and diagnostic activities.
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is one of three national centres providing a comprehensive diagnostic service for PCD, integrated with an active research programme. The technician will join a vibrant multidisciplinary PCD team at UoS and UHS consisting of clinical health care professionals and scientists. The Group is supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic and research facilities, providing an excellent working environment.
This post provides opportunities to bridge traditional job boundaries, participating in the diagnostic and research activities of our team. Applicants with skills in cell culture, molecular cell biology, genomics and/ or imaging pertinent to PCD are encouraged to apply. You must be a good team worker, an excellent communicator and have experience with standard office computer systems including word-processing and spreadsheets. Additional training will be provided to develop the skills base required for this multi-facetted post, and you will be given the opportunity to take courses and attend meetings to enable your personal development.
The post holder will have contact with patient data and will hold an honorary contract with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, requiring an acceptable Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) review.
Based at Southampton General Hospital the post is ERE level 4, full time and permanent following a probationary period.
