We seek a post-doctoral research associate (PDRA) for the EPSRC Next Stage Digital Economy Centre in the Decentralised Digital Economy (DECaDE), to work with Prof Glenn Parry based in the Business School. The position is part of a major cross-disciplinary Centre www.decade.ac.uk.

Goals of the position

Within the DECaDE project current themes include:

Supply chain, in particular how distributed systems may play a part in supply visibility or trust, helping goods across international borders more easily

Future of work; how will distributed systems change the future of work 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to the development of the research project, specifically undertaking research and developing business relationships.
  • Publish journal articles at ABS 3/4, building on current skills.
  • Given the broad cross-disciplinary nature of the project, it is expected that the researcher would spend time visiting partners and working closely with the researchers at these institutes.

Who are we looking for?

  • A PhD in Business and Management, or related subjects with the experience to plan and manage your own studies. 
  • Knowledge of supply chain, business model and value theory, HR and future of work, or areas of business theory (trust, privacy, power, process mapping, Lean, paradox, operations management, systems engineering, service design, process management. (We are not seeking a coder/programmer/software designer.)
  • Publications in relevant academic journals and solid understanding of the business and management academic literature/be familiar with relevant ABS/FT list publications.

Candidates in the final stages of completing their PhDs are encouraged to apply only if you will complete by September 2024, or shortly thereafter. 

We ideally require someone with permission to work in the UK, due to the project duration. Ideally, candidates would move to within easy commuting distance of the University. Please look at house prices in the area and decide if this is realistic for you.
