The School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy has an international reputation as a centre of excellence for research and teaching in a multidisciplinary School ranked in the QS top 150. The School has a global reputation for architectural design excellence with its faculty and adjunct staff maintaining an international profile. The School is seeking to increase its expertise and capacity in the areas of technology and sustainability to contribute to our ambition in this area.

Applications are invited for a temporary 5-year fixed-term Lecturer/Assistant Professor post in Construction for Climate Action and Adaptation. This post is being established to further the aims of the Building Change Project. This project brings together all undergraduate architecture programmes in Ireland in revising their curricula, developing new content and shared approaches in responses to the urgent imperatives of climate action.

The successful applicant will contribute to this initiative with colleagues in UCD and in collaboration with other institutions. They will deliver significant teaching in the area of design technologies and studio, at undergraduate level and as part of the MSc in Architecture, Urbanism and Climate Action. They will also be expected to contribute to research in this area. The central focus of the role will be in expanding knowledge about approaches to construction - methods, materials and processes - in response to climate change.

Applicants must have a PhD in architecture, architectural engineering, or a related area, have a demonstrated capacity for research and a record including publication and other outputs (commensurate with stage of career), a commitment to high-quality University-level teaching, a strong technical and computational competency, excellent interpersonal skills, and a capacity and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary context in the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy and the wider academic community.

95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above The Bar (7943) Salary Scale: €61,617 - €97,572 Per Annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
