Are you a qualified accountant seeking to drive business change with a fulfilling outcome and purpose? Then join us as a Senior Finance Manager within the School of Healthcare, Enterprise and Innovation (HEI)!

Here at HEI we are home to research-focused businesses tackling major issues in healthcare. We also run a purpose-built teaching lab to improve health outcomes for young people and help other organisations evaluate and drive positive change. Our passion lies in bridging the gap between research and practical application, building strong partnerships with healthcare innovators, and making a real difference to health outcomes for the nation and beyond.

What will you do?

You will lead the finance agenda for the school and partner with the head of school to help drive our commercial and enterprise agenda. You will use financial expertise to contribute to and influence strategic activities such as business planning, delivery of strategic projects, scenario planning and financial planning. Additionally, you will lead effective budgeting, forecasting and overall financial management of the school.

A critical requirement of this role is to operate as a true business partner and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You will be confident and effective in making recommendations that will improve both business outcomes and financial performance and be able to clearly articulate financial concepts to a non-technical audience.

Who are we looking for?

You will need to be a CCAB Qualified Accountant with significant post-qualification experience. It is important that you are able to think beyond the finance boundary, combining financial and non-financial information to make balanced and commercially astute decisions and help drive associated actions. Some of the key skills required in this role include:

  • Able to provide commercially sound support, decisions and recommendations
  • Strong listening, challenging and influencing skills, particularly with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including senior managers.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts simply for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of using financial knowledge in a broader organisational context such as business planning.

What can we offer you?

This role is a chance to move away from the profit driven corporate environment and into an organisation that drives meaningful improvements in healthcare and health outcomes for both patients and the wider public.

You will have the opportunity to use your finance, partnering and team working experience to drive business activity and outcomes which contribute to this aim.

Staff wellbeing is genuinely a key priority for us and this is reflected in our people focused culture, which needs to be experienced to be appreciated! We recently won an award as Top Medium Employer in the Mind Workplace Wellbeing awards, achieving Gold for the fourth year in a row!

We offer comprehensive benefits, encompassing higher than usual annual leave, family-friendly policies, a robust pension plan, and more - full details can be found here!

We have a very flexible approach to hybrid working, helping you achieve the right work-life balance for you, with an expectation that you will spend around 20% of your time in the office.

This role is full-time, however we will consider part-time arrangements with a minimum of 28 hours per week.

Interview's are to be held on the 9th and 12th July.
